Reader Groups

Beginning Readers - (Read to me)  Children age 2 through going into 1st grade
Intermediate Readers – Children going into 2nd through 5th grades

Beginning Readers and Intermediate Readers will read or be read to 100 minutes each week.   After 100 minutes are read, children come in to the library, get their reading log stamped, and receive an incentive prize.  Only one prize per week per reader.  Stay with the program through June and July to earn tickets to the Family Parties at the end of each month.  Keep track of those extra minutes to qualify for the 1000 Minute Party!

Meet the goal of reading 100 minutes a week for four weeks in June and earn tickets for you and your family to attend a special Family Party at the theater on June 27th.  (Date subject to change depending on availability of a family movie.)  Meet the goal all four weeks in July and attend the second Family Party at the swimming pool on July 25th.

For those who have read 20 minutes every day of the week throughout the program (54 days of reading, with four days of wiggle room), there will be a special 1000 Minute Party the week after the Closing Party.  This is to reward children who read and keep track of their reading every day.  Certificates to attend will be given at the Closing Party.

Advanced Readers – Young Adults going into 6th through 12th grades

Each young adult will read books of their choice and keep track of the number of pages read on a reading log.    Each young adult will be encouraged to read a minimum of 2,000 pages for an incentive prize.  The prize drawing may be entered after reading 2,000 pages.  Each young adult will be encouraged to volunteer to help with the weekly programs at the library (especially Craft Days) as well as participate in special YA programs.  Participants who have met the goal of 2000 pages and participated in at least one library activity will enjoy a special event to be held after the Closing Party.

Adult Readers - All Adults welcome

Adults are encouraged to read 5 books of their choice.  When 5 books have been read from June 2nd  – July 25th, adults will receive an incentive prize and will be eligible for a prize drawing.  (One prize per adult.)
