Purchase Requests
Any patron may request that the library purchase a book or audio-visual material or subscribe to a magazine. Chances are usually good that the library will comply, if funds are available and if the item is likely to appeal to others besides the requestor.
Interlibrary Loan
If a patron would like to read a book that the library does not own, or read an article in a magazine to which the library does not subscribe, the item or copy of an article can be requested from other libraries, usually at no charge. Through this service the library has access to most of the great research collections in this country. The South Dakota State Library maintains a collection of 16mm films and videos that are available for loan to South Dakota residents. Some libraries loan videos and cassettes. Microfilm is also available, although usually for a fee.
To submit an interlibrary loan, you can either come into the library, or visit the SDLN Public Catalog at http://apollo.sdln.net/F.
If you have trouble logging onto SDLN with your card number and password, log in as a 'guest' to use the search facility. If you want information on your personal library account, contact the Vermillion Public Library and we can look up the information for you.
Meeting Rooms
The library maintains two meeting rooms that non-profit groups or organizations may use free of charge. Our Community Room seats up to 100 people. The South Dakota Room seats up to fourteen(14) people. Ask a library staff member for details.
