Library Cards
Persons registering as borrowers
will be asked to show two forms of identification. Minors under fourteen (14)
years of age registering as borrowers will be required to obtain the signature
of a parent or guardian before borrowing library materials. Children can be
issued a card after their seventh birthday. Library cards are provided free of
charge to all residents of Clay County. Out of county residents may purchase a
library card for $15.00 per year. Patrons may use only their own personal card

While we attempt to notify

do so. Persons registering as borrows assume, in writing, full
responsibility for the prompt return of library property loaned to them. The
maximum number of overdue library materials allowed is fifteen(15).
Fines
Everyone benefits from the prompt
return of library materials. The materials are made available to other borrowers
and no fine is levied. However, when library materials are returned after
the due date, the following fines are charged:
Adult and young adult books,
periodicals - 10 cents per item per day
Children's books, periodicals - 5
cents per item per day

There is a two day grace period
on all library materials except videos, DVDs, CD-ROMs, and art prints. On the
third day the full fine applies, calculated from the first day the item was
overdue.

Lost
or Damaged Materials
In the case of damaged items, the
library user will be held responsible for the cost of repair of the item. In the
case of lost items or items damaged beyond repair, the library user will be held
responsible for the cost of replacement of the item plus a processing fee.
Suspension
of Library Services
Library service is a privilege
accorded to those who obey library rules and regulations. At times, however, it
becomes necessary to suspend a patron's library privileges. Following are some
of the reasons why library privileges may be suspended:
Failure to respond to written
overdue notices and return overdue materials.
Failure to pay accumulated fines
on overdue materials. Maximum amount allowed is $15.00.
Failure to pay for the
replacement of lost materials or repair of damaged materials.
Failure to obey common rules of
courtesy and decorum after a warning to do so.
The public library exists to
serve the patrons. Experience has shown that observance of the above-listed
rules and regulations makes library use a more pleasant and rewarding experience
for all patrons.
