VPL's Writer of the Month:
Emily Giffin

Emily Giffin is a graduate of Wake Forest University and the University of Virginia School of Law. After practicing litigation at a Manhattan law firm for several years, she moved to London to write full time. The author of four New York Times Bestselling novels, she now lives in Atlanta with her husband and three young children.

Giffin's latest novel is Heart of the Matter. Tessa Russo is the mother of two young children and the wife of a renowned pediatric surgeon. Tessa has recently given up her career to focus on her family. Valerie Anderson is an attorney and a single mother to Charlie, a boy who has never met his father. Although both women live in the same Boston suburb, the two have little in common, aside for a fierce love for their children. But one night, a tragic accident causes their lives to converge in ways no one could have imagined. Emily Giffin creates a moving, story of good people caught in untenable circumstances. Each being tested in ways they never thought possible3. And each ultimately discovering what truly matters most.

The VPL has the following Emily Giffin selections:
Something Borrowed , Baby Proof, Love the One You're With, and Heart of the Matter. For more information on Emily Giffin or her novels, visit her website at: www.emilygiffin.com

We Want Your Ideas!

The Vermillion Public Library is changing and we want your input!

What is it that you think would make your library great? A bigger YA area for reading? Maybe larger meeting rooms to accomodate your personal interest groups? More computers? An expanded Children's Department?

Our Library Building Committee wants to hear what you think would make our library great. Starting in the Spring of 2011, our building will undergo a major renovation & expansion project. This project will help improve our effectiveness in providing services to you, our community. If you have any ideas on what you would like to see at your library, any concerns, comments, or suggestions on our expansion, come have you voice heard by completing a comment sheet.

Our architects have proposed 5 different layout plans. These plans can be seen in our entrance. We will also be posting them online for everyone to see. Please review these options. Thoughts, comments, and suggestions are appreciated. Use the available forms and leave them in the box.

This is an amazing opportunity to have a lasting impact on your community and your public library. Please join us in improving our beloved library.

 Outreach Book Route

The purpose of the Outreach Book Route is to provide educational and recreational reading materials for members
of the community who are unable to come to the library themselves. Often, emphasis is placed on the homebound
and the hospitalized elderly, but services are not limited to this population.

The Outreach provider, employed by the Vermillion Public Library, provides free services to all Outreach patrons by identifying patrons in need of Outreach services, collecting and recommending reading materials, and delivering these items regularly. The individual patron delivery is set up for twice monthly.

If this sounds like a service you would like to have, please call and speak with Linda today! Last year, 3,000 library items were delivered to patron's homes.
